YouDo Supports Soap for Society Drive

Written by Quentin Griffiths

YouDo are proud to be supporting Soap for Society’s first national campaign by collecting sanitary items, soap and toiletries to donate to the Wellington City Mission.

Ayesha is leading the initiative at YouDo by raising awareness around hygiene poverty and driving the team to collect and donate items to the cause.

Ayesha is passionate about the cause, stating;

“As a former peer supporter, I’d handled a few mental health cases and I personally know a few people who’ve been through a lot, escaping from one situation only to be in another abusive/unsupportive environment. They are just your average Kiwis. Hygiene poverty could definitely affect someone’s mental health. When I heard about Soap For Society, I decided to ‘show up’ and not walk away because I understand that the little things matter a lot. It’s like sending a big message from all of us to our wider community saying to those who are struggling, “It’s completely okay to ask for help. You are not broken, we are here for you.””

So, what are we collecting?

  • Sanitary items

  • Razors

  • Shaving foam

  • Deodorants

  • Shampoo and conditioner

  • Body wash

  • Toothpaste

  • Travel-sized products are important for people without permanent homes

  • Anything else will be gratefully received, including combs, hair bands, face wipes, sunscreen, and make-up products.
