NZ On Screen . New Zealand Screen History Online
www.nzonscreen.com YouDo maintains and develops the NZ On Screen website, part of an NZ On Air initiative which provides free online access to New Zealand television, film, music video and new media.
The team at NZ On Screen add new digitised content to the large database of NZ media daily, and the website receives over 25,000 visitors a month. It won the 2009 Qantas Media Award for Best Entertainment Website and was a finalist in the 2010 ONYA's for Most Outstanding Website.
The NZ On Screen platform uses Ruby on Rails, and YouDo was brought in to upgrade the existing technology from Rails 1.2.6 to Rails 2.2 and introduce greater reliance on Rails best practices and standards. YouDo also implemented the latest in HTML5 technologies so the NZ On Screen viewing experience is seamless on the iPad and other devices.
Implementation of a concise set of search rules using T-Search has resulted in vastly improved search results helping to showcase some of NZ On Screen’s most prized content.
